IgG antibodies
Most abundant immunoglobulin in the serum and extracellular spaces in tissues.
Note
The 4 subclasses in humans are numbered in increasing order of rarity in the
IgG isotypes interact with C1 to activate the classical complement pathway.
- One type is good at opsonizing a target
- Second type limits inflammation thus are designed not to activate complement.
- Can be passed form mother to fetus via the placenta. Long lasting = months after birth of passive protection.
